VALOR IN THE PACIFIC - & Companion Print FORTRESS UNDER ATTACK
Robert Taylor's release to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the hard-fought victory in the Pacific theatre shows the mighty B-29 Superfortresses of the 499th Bomb Group, 20th Air Force, returning after a daylight mission to Tokyo and showing unmistakable signs of combat. The B-29 was an awesome aircraft - the largest and fastest piston-engined Bomber of the war.
They must now make their way back to Saipan alone as their P-51 Mustang escort are near the edge of their range, so peel off and head for home.
