STEINHOFF IN THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN - ORIGINAL DRAWING By Nicolas Trudgian
One of the great fighter leaders of WW2, Johannes 'Macky' Steinhoff served in virtually every theatre where the Luftwaffe fought. He flew his last sorties with the Me262 jet fighter and was badly injured when his fighter exploded on takeoff in 1945.
However, Steinhoff served also in the Battle of Britain with JG52, alongside other pilots who would later become legends - Gunther Rall, Gerd Barkhorn and 'Pauli' Rossmann all flew me109E's during the Battle of Britain in 1940.
In tribute to 'Macky' Steinhoff Nick Trudgian has produced a wonderful drawing of Steinhoff's Me109E 'White 1' escorting He111's which have come under attack by Hurricanes of 87 Squadron.
The Drawing is mounted and measures 18 x 15 Inches in total and carries the Signatures of the following famous Me109E Battle of Britain Pilots:-
1. Johannes 'Macky' STEINHOFF - 4./JG52
2. Herbert IHLEFELD - I.(J)/LG1
3. Dieter HRABAK - Gruppenkommanduer II/JG54
4. Gunther RALL - Staffelkapitan 8./JG52
5. Hans-ekkehard BOB - Staffelkapitan 9./JG54
6. Erwin LEYKAUF - 7./JG54
A really superb piece of Battle of Britain art!
