HAUPTSTURMFUHRER RUDOLF VON RIBBENTROP - Knights Cross
Son of the famous diplomat - and partly educated in the UK, Rudolf Von Ribbentrop served with the Waffen SS in WW2, fighting in some of the most gruelling battles - at Kharkov and in Normandy.
He was also involved in Operation Citadel - the Battle of Kursk in July 1943 as part of the 1st Panzer LAH. His Panzer IV was actually at Prokharovka on 12th July 1943 and, despite being completely overwhelmed and surrounded by Soviet Tanks, he managed in the confusion to knock out many and helped to blunt the massive Soviet attack. He was seriously wounded on many occasions and was awarded the Knights Cross for his continued bravery.
This is a nice Postwar signed photo.
