MAJOR ERWIN CLAUSEN - Wartime Signed Private Photo
Clausen flew with LG2 during the Polish campaign, the Battle of France and the Battle of Britain. In Russia his unit was subsumed into JG77 and Clausen began to score heavily. He scored his 100th Victory on 22nd July 1942 (an Il-2) and was awarded the Oak Leaves to his Knights Cross.
Transferred to the West, Clausen joined JG11 in its attempts to battle the US heavies, which were now making regular raids into the heart of Germany. During these 'Defence of the Reich' sorties Clausen shot down 11 B-17's and a single B-24. On 4th October 1943 Clausen's Fw190 was shot down whilst attempting to attack B-24's.
Erwin Clausen's final victory tally was 132 Victories.
